Come Away With Me. WCF 234

Christian Resources

1. The Call to Intimacy with God

  • Jesus invites us to withdraw from constant demands and spend time alone with Him.
  • Many people postpone this, pushing God into the background of their lives.
  • Society glorifies busyness and treats time like a tyrant that controls life.
  • Even believers often follow the world’s pace, thinking “more is better.”

2. Choosing the Better Path

  • Jesus calls His followers to make time with Him their highest joy and priority.
  • This solitary path is often misunderstood or undervalued by others.
  • But those who choose it experience blessings that cannot be taken away.

3. Finding “Quiet Pools” – Rest for the Soul (Psalm 23:2–3)

  • Everyone needs times of peace and quiet—spiritual oases where God can speak.
  • Without these moments, we feel drained, overwhelmed, and unable to hear His voice.
  • When we don’t choose rest, God may allow circumstances that force us to slow down.
  • The better option: intentionally seek quiet places to breathe and receive God’s direction.

4. Jesus’ Example of Solitude (Mark 1:35)

  • Jesus Himself regularly withdrew to solitary places to pray despite a busy ministry.
  • If He needed this time with the Father, we need it even more.
  • Time alone with God recharges our spiritual batteries and restores clarity.

5. The Gift of Rest (Mark 6:30–31)

  • Jesus invited His disciples to rest after intense periods of ministry.
  • Rest is not optional—it’s part of God’s design and included in the Ten Commandments.
  • Our bodies and spirits require rest to function as God intended.

6. Enjoying God’s Presence

  • Like a couple in love, simply being in God’s presence brings joy.
  • This happens through Scripture, , worship, and quiet reflection.
  • Life is full of noise, hurried schedules, and pressures—even vacations become stressful.
  • True rest comes only from Jesus (Matthew 11:28; Psalm 46:10).

7. Cultivating Daily Peace in God’s Presence

  • Rest, peace, and contentment are found only in Jesus Christ.
  • As we practice ongoing communion with Him, chaos and fear lose their grip.
  • Jesus gives the ultimate rest—confidence in God’s care for tomorrow.

8. Breaking the Cycle of Overload

  • We often feel overwhelmed because we try to do too much.
  • Reassessing priorities helps eliminate unnecessary pressure.
  • Focus on long-term goals and God-given responsibilities; release the rest.

9. God’s Word as a Window of Hope

  • When life feels suffocating, Scripture opens a window to and renewal.
  • God’s Word melts tension, brings clarity, strengthens , and revives the spirit.
  • Jesus’ words are “spirit and life” (John 6:63), bringing hope and direction.
