The danger of Materialism is that it is so much like part of the parable of the sower Jesus taught us in Matthew 13, Mark 4 and Luke 8! He said the seed was the Word of God and some seeds fell into various grounds or hearts. One seed fell into a type of heart choked or thorny with Materialism and the love of material things

I have this thought, whether it is correct is debatable, but it is this: there is ‘benign capitalism’ and ‘malignant capitalism’. At least in Capitalism there is potentially the development of people and finances and the potential reward of effort. Incentive to make money or develop your own potential has more of a chance to grow in the soil of Capitalism than most other systems. It’s not ideal, but then what is in this fallen world?
